What Necole Bitchie Taught Me About Living Your Truth

We are in a day and age when salacious news trumps truth and positivity. The Love and Hip Hop series on VH1 is the most watched tv show not because they're curing Aids or helping the needy. There's more drama in one episode than an entire senior year in high school. There's more drama in one episode than an entire senior year in high school. People are so scared to find their own voice, live their truth, and give into their own unique power that, they would rather follow what is trendy.

MY TRUTH I've been thinking a lot lately about what I want to impress on the world. I've been thinking about my message and how I want it to influence people. There are many bloggers out there building their business and brand. Some have no interest on how their message is received or what they deliver as long as people are watching. Not I. It matters to me greatly what people think about or do after visiting my page. I want those of you who take the time to read each post to do great things, feel better about yourself, find freedom in living your truth, and most of all, increase love and positivity in every area of your life.

HOW TO FIND YOUR TRUTH When someone is bold enough to take a chance on something that's not popular but instead is powerful, they are looking to evoke change in people instead of provoking change. Evoking is when you are looking to bring out the best in the people you influence. Provoking is when you are pushing someone to take notice in you. Necole Bitchie (as many know her but her real name is Necole Kane), celebrity gossip blogger turned messenger of truth, change, and positivty, said

When someone hands you the mic you should have something worthy to say.

This message touched me because I know that I want to encourage, inspire, and enlighten those around me to be all that they want to be. I know that regardless if I inspire one or thousands it all matters, because people do AMAZING things when they are inspired. By no means do I claim to be a guru. My creative expression -- my writing, my pictures, my work is me living my own truth. I would be doing these same things in private, but I've decided to grab a piece of the internet and share it. There's great power in a testimony. If my path encourages others to find their own then by all means I will not stand in the way.

THERE IS PURPOSE IN LIVING YOUR TRUTH Whether your gift is writing, speaking, acting, running, marketing, whatever it may be, there is a great purpose for that talent that you must discover. There is nothing wrong making money from your gifts or presenting them for others to recognize, but until you determine the purpose behind your talent there will always be a sense of longing for something more.

The bravery it took for Necole to step into a lane of her own and start something less popular but more purposeful is the kind of trait needed to follow your own path and not fear it's outcome. I am gratful for people like her who are willing to fight for the good things in this life- love, happiness,  passion, peace, community. Because enough people are fighting for the fleeting- money, fame, glamour, trends.

Although there is enormous uncertainty to where your truth will lead you, it is only because it has never been created by you before. Therefore you are creating something one of a kind. There is something more in store for us all if we dare to explore it. It's not beside you, it's not behind you, it's not even in front of you, it's within you. It always has been and always will be. Now let it out.

Where are all the Things You Should Have by Now?

How many of you thought you would have a corner office overlooking the city with great big windows by the age of 30? How many were under the impression that a few years after college there would be a big desk with your name on it, a plush leather chair whereyou took calls, cancelled calls, and made enough money for a new car, a home of your own, and plenty of spending cash for trips and clothes?

How many of you thought you would have a corner office overlooking the city with great big windows by the age of 30? How many were under the impression that a few years after college there would be a big desk with your name on it, a plush leather chair where  you took calls, cancelled calls, and made enough money for a new car, a home of your own, and plenty of spending cash for trips and clothes?

Sidenote: I honestly don't know who gets big beautiful offices because my manager's manager works in the same tiny office I occasionally pump my breastmilk in. There's no windows, no gold-plated nametag, no big desk, and the chair has to be from Office Max 10 years ago. FACT.

I always envisioned I would've traveled more places by now. I would've definitely had the walk-in closet of my dreams by now. I would  absolutely own a nice modern condo downtown by now. Most importantly, I would be running my own business by now.

The place you thought you would be "by now" doesn't exist.

That place was put there to excite you. It was put there to show you what's in store if you better yourself,  build your talents, and work hard.

But there's no time stamp on when you will have all that you've ever wanted. And there's no guarantee it will look like what  you've imagined.

You must let go of the fantasy double-life you're simultaneously living in your head and check-in to what's real. See all you have done to get here and all you are doing to maintain. What does that look like?

Is it what you imagined? Is it what you hoped for?

I didn't imagine myself with a child until 29...maybe 30. I didn't imagine working for a telecom company because I've never been tech savvy (until now apparently). I never imagined myself skipping out on grad school to pursue a career in coaching.

I never imagined myself here and now that I am, it's not what I thought it would be. The things I hoped for didn't come in the package I expected, but it came.

I'm pursuing a career that is aligned with who I am but I'm doing it as I work at a job I can't stand. The rest of my 20's will be filled with adventures by the side of, not one, but the two loves of my life.

There are still many things that I long for, but I see now that I can have it in many different forms.

Our imagination creates all of our possibilities. We need our imagination to drive us. But don't let the power of your imagination keep you from embracing the things you want just because it's delivered in a different box. What you imagine you can create, you can be, you can have. But sitting in your imagination and refusing to exam your current reality because it's not what you thought it should be is suicidal for your heart's desires.

Everyday it is easy to envision the future, but looking at your life for what it is brings up all the things it's not, as well as what it has become. It allows you to see the things you've done and all the things you have yet to do. You see all the choices that have brought you this far. With a close look, not with your mind but with your heart, you may realize you have exactly what you long for.

This your reality check.

The 1 Reminder Every Mom Needs

Just because you're raising a child, your ambitions don't dissappear. All the things you've ever wanted to do are still there, waiting, lurking, wondering when you're going to acknowledge their presence once again.

I'm a mom and an entrepreneur. I'll always be both.
I'm a mom and an entrepreneur. I'll always be both.

Just because you're raising a child, your ambitions don't dissappear. All the things you've ever wanted to do are still there, waiting, lurking, wondering when you're going to acknowledge their presence once again.

While I was pregnant I had this awesome plan of how I was going to raise an amazing child and build a business in all my spare time. (Moms know there's no such thing as spare time) I was going to wake up early or stay up late. Multitask while playing with my son. Go to events with my baby right on my hip as if nothing had changed. I even started a meet up group within the last month of my pregnancy,  totally convinced I would have one event a month (since IV has been born I haven't had a single event).

When my little one actually came along, nothing, and I mean ab-so-lute-ly nothing, was like I thought it would be. From my body, to my emotions and my mind, I was different in ways that were painfully obvious. I never knew I could reach a point of tiredness that at any moment I wasn't actively doing something, I was falling asleep. I didn't know showering and eating would turn into 10 minute breaks of me time. I had no idea that I could cry at the drop of a dime all because I dropped something and I couldn't reach to pick it up in fear of waking my baby.

Thoughts of working on my business didn't exist. How could it? I could barely think straight.

I was too tired, too confused, and too unmotivated to see my dreams.

But I pushed forward.

"There's no slowing down,  as the globe spins around and round. You gotta keep going"-- Jehne Aiko

As much as I wanted to give up, something inside wouldn't let me. So I kept creating. I created action steps for myself for when I did get my MOJO back. I wrote blog posts even though I wasn't posting any. I stayed connected to people I wanted to build business relationships with.

You have to reconnect with who you are.

These things were small but it kept a tiny lit fire burning inside me when I was ready to blow it out.

You have to remind yourself that you still have options even though you have no idea how it's going to happen.

Having a child will change how you thought you would achieve success. It will change your vision for the future and what you're willing to do AND NOT DO to get there. But it's a journey like any other. You must stay focused, be resourceful, get creative, stay hopeful, andkeep going.

I dont stop and think about how things will work out becuase if i do, everything feels impossible. And nothing positive comes from a state of doubt. You have to do the work not concerned about whether you're going to get there because you will.

Every little thing you continue to do builds your desire, strengthens your capabilities,  and opens opportunities for everything you want out of life.

Just like your child, your ambitions aren't going anywhere so no point in ignoring them.

Feel free,

Mel
